annual marriage retreat

Zephyr Point, Lake Tahoe

October 20–22

Our annual marriage retreat is for all married couples, no matter if you've been married for forty years or just a few weeks. Whether you are looking to strengthen, heal, reconnect or simply just get away, this is a weekend you don't want to miss.

With a unique theme each year, guest speakers provide motivational sessions throughout the weekend. Some sessions are full of laughter and light teaching while others lead to healing and restoration within marriages. Worship and prayer times are incorporated in each session.

This weekend away is Holy Spirit filled, so we urge you to put on the armor of God and prepare yourself for what God has planned. We encourage couples to be prayerful in the months and days leading to this trip. Pray for your marriage and for the other married couples attending, that the Lord will reveal areas in relationships that need work and stability. Be prayerful for healing and forgiveness where needed and for perseverance through the peaks and valleys leading to time together.

Love Like Fire

When praying about the theme for retreat this year, it was very clear that the Lord is preparing another powerful weekend for us. His desire is for us to love for our spouse, but not just the regular every day "I love you" kind. God wants us to have a burning HOT love. The "I am deeply in love with you" kind of love.

Stop and think about this, our spouse has been HAND PICKED by God! How amazing is it that our Heavenly Father not only hand picked our spouse, but CREATED, MOLDED and FORGED them into the person they are today.

Just like Ephesians 5:22-28 reminds us, wives are to be submissive to their husbands and husbands are to love their wives as Christ loved the church. Christ's love for the church isn't an ordinary love though. This is an unending, untamed, bold and uncontrollable love. One that quite literally no human can even understand. THAT....that's the kind of love we need in our marriage. The wild one, the one that people just don't understand because it is so beautiful and so raw.

The scripture Solomon 8:6b–7a says it perfectly.

For love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame. many waters cannot quench love; rivers cannot sweep it away.

It's time to venture out of our comfort zone and love our spouse like a burning flame.
